The course will provide an insight and understanding into the modern day music industry and the key factors that determine what success is.
What Will I Learn?
Learning outcomes will be based around 5 key components of the course, which include:
- The music industry structure (the traditional model and the emerging new model), including Recording, A&R, Publishing, Marketing, Business Affairs, Legal Affairs, Product Management, Digital and Touring.
- How to identify/access revenue streams in the new music business structure - publishing, touring, downloads, royalties, ring tones, endorsements and others.
- Major or Independent vs Unsigned and the fundamentals of releasing and marketing an act/record independently.
- Getting a deal & the different types of music contracts - Recording deal, 360 deal and Publishing deals.
- Music industry career paths. Gain an insight into working in the music business and the 3 main areas – Creative, Technical and Business that provide pathways into employment in the music industry.
